Community Connect Platform
A mobile-first platform linking residents in underserved neighborhoods to essential public services, health information, and local civic opportunities.
Community Connect is a lightweight mobile platform built for feature phones and low-bandwidth environments. It connects residents in peri-urban communities to government services, health resources, school enrollment tools, and community meeting schedules through a combination of USSD menus, SMS alerts, and a progressive web app.
The platform was co-designed through participatory workshops in Tema Newtown and Ashaiman, where residents identified their most urgent information gaps. Current modules include a clinic finder with real-time wait times, a school fees calculator, a marketplace for local traders, and a civic engagement hub that tracks ward-level projects.
With over 6,800 registered users and 23,000 monthly interactions, Community Connect demonstrates that inclusive technology starts with listening. The project is supported by local assembly partners and is expanding to three additional districts in 2026.
