SDG Youth Ambassadors
Training 200 young leaders per year to champion the Sustainable Development Goals in their communities through media, advocacy, and technology projects.
The SDG Youth Ambassadors program recruits passionate young people from universities, polytechnics, and community groups and equips them with the knowledge, tools, and networks to drive SDG-aligned projects locally. Each cohort completes a six-month journey that includes SDG orientation workshops, digital storytelling training, a community action project, and a national showcase event.
Ambassadors choose a focus Goal and design a micro-project addressing it in their community. Past projects include a plastic waste mapping app (Goal 12), a girls-in-STEM mentoring circle (Goals 4 and 5), and a community garden with IoT soil sensors (Goal 2). The best projects receive seed funding and ongoing mentorship.
Through three cohorts, the program has trained 480 ambassadors across 10 regions of Ghana. Their collective projects have reached an estimated 15,000 community members and generated over 200 media pieces raising public awareness of the SDGs.
